Dr Alexandra Petrik, PhD, MClinPsych, BPsychSc(Hons) 

Atlas Psychology is Dr Alexandra Petrik’s private practice specialising in clinical treatment. Alexandra is a board registered Psychologist and currently engaged in the Clinical Psychology Registrar Program. Alexandra has a PhD in Psychology and a Masters of Clinical Psychology from La Trobe University. She has a broad range of experience administering assessment and therapeutic services across clinical, forensic, and organisational contexts. She has a background working with Emergency Services personnel and the associated potentially traumatic experiences and challenges of that work.

She describes her therapeutic style as collaborative, supportive, strength-based, and motivational. Alexandra works with both adults and adolescents to achieve progress with a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, abuse, grief and loss, workplace issues, relationship difficulties, self-esteem/confidence, and a broad range of mental health and wellbeing challenges.

Alexandra has extensive training in a range of therapeutic modalities to suit the specific needs of the client. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Anger Management, and Mindfulness-Based Approaches.

She conducted her PhD research in therapeutic processes, and has a comprehensive understanding of how clients can achieve positive and meaningful life changes. She believes in creating a supportive and proactive space in which to arm clients with a strong individualised “tool kit” to help manage both everyday and long-term challenges.
